Jean-Christophe Yoccoz

Jean-Christophe Yoccoz (born May 29, 1957) is a French mathematician. He was awarded a Fields Medal in 1994, for his work on dynamical systems.
==Biography==
Yoccoz was an IMO-1973 silver medal winner and won a gold medal at IMO-1974. He attended the Lycée Louis-le-Grand. He graduated from the École Normale Supérieure with the Agrégation de Mathématiques in 1977. After completing military service in Brazil, he completed his Ph.D. under Michael Herman in 1985 at the École Polytechnique. He took up a position at University of Paris-Sud at Orsay and was awarded the Fields Medal at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1994 in Zurich, where he gave a plenary talk. He had previously been an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1990 at Kyoto. He is currently Professor at the Collège de France. He was a member of Bourbaki.
